Meet The Artisans
Melany
Melany took over her parents textile stall at the age of 19 after covid destroyed the family business. She contacted me directly and I’ve been working with her ever since.
She is young, hard working and extremely driven with an excellent eye for beautiful textiles and a good photographer.
I sell her huipiles direct to my Instagram followers in my Instagram stories. She drops them off at the courier and I organise international shipping and payment.
She comments regularly that the L’amour Artisans wholesale account is a huge help with her supporting her entire family.
Irma
Irma is a single mother with three children and weaves her own textiles “on spec” selling them in a small shop run by the womens co-op Corazon del Largo in San Juan la Laguna.
She works part time in the textile shop selling as part of the requirement to be a member of the co-op and does her natural dyeing and weaving at home while her children are at school.
When you buy a newly woven pillow at L’amour Artisans you are helping Irma to support her family.
Manuela & Martin
Manuela and Martin run 2 separate textile stalls in Chichicastenango and organised for their daughter Cristina to learn English to help with English speaking tourists and wholesale accounts.
They specialise in sourcing beautiful vintage San Juan Cotzal and Nebaj textiles and support a lot of Mayan artisans.
Online businesses like Lamour Artisans helped them through the difficult Covid years.
Cristina
Cristina runs a stall at the famous Chichicastenango markets and has an extremely good eye for beautiful pastel textiles. She’s expensive but knows the worth of her curation.
Her mother stalks the bus depot in the afternoon sucessfully selling to tourists who are regretting not buying more as they leave.
Wholesale accounts like Lamour Artisans help inject large amounts of cash into her family business when times are slow.
Lucia
Lucia lives with her parents and works part time in a clothing store as well as sewing pillows part time for L’amour Artisans.
She loves immersing herself in the beauty and culture of traditional textiles and is a perfectionist when it comes to sewing.
Her wages help support her family and educate her younger brothers.
Elena
Dona Elena and her family have been selling at the Panajachel Bomberos Textile Market for close to 20 years.
They specialise in exquiste floral huipiles from Patzun where they are from.
All of her textiles are sustainably sourced and your purchase supports this hard-working artisan family.
Teresa
Dona Teresa is the matriach of her family and runs a huge stall twice a week at the Panajachel Bombero Market.
Her daughters and son-in-laws work together under her, bringing their younger children who are often found napping under benches loaded with textiles.
Her son-in-law Miguel now works with me via Whatsapp, sending me photos of textiles I'm interested in.
They rely on small online businesses like Lamour Artisans when tourism is slow.
Maria
Dona Maria’s extended family all work under her running a huge textile stall at the Panajachel Bombero markets.
She is beautiful, fierce and a true matriach.
Her daughter Angelica took over sales via Whatsapp when covid crushed tourism, and it was small online businesses like Lamour Artisans that kept them going through that time.

Very Happy
I just received the huipil. It is stunning! And very good condition, just like you said. Any hard and fast rule about which side to wear, the neckline is exactly the same on both sides? I am very happy, gracias.
